i want that

not only does he like cats – as you can see for yourself

he also has a cat named after him – this little poly boy is called david tennant of karma and may be bought for just $100

david tennant’s brothers are colin baker and peter davison – their mom’s owner seems to be a pretty big doctor who fan as well – i so want that – even though it seems kind of longish to be yelling david tennant, when you want the kitty to come inside - anyways, one day i will have a cat and then i might just name it david or maybe even doctor?

lindgren – my childhood revisited

ronja, madita, pippi, mio, pelle and tjorven … – best friends of my childhood – i simply adore astrid lindgren and everything she’s ever written – whenever i am sick, a lindgren book is the only thing that can make it better – and watching any lindgren movie is just the perfect way to forget all trouble and worry and be transported back to being seven years old, lying on my mom’s bed, eating caramel ice-cream, watching movies and being outright happy

sing along I

this time in full length – i don’t need no car or singing animals to sing out loud along to this one – it perfectly matches my mood on this beautiful saturday morning – sleeping in after having had the perfect cocktail last night – a breakfast of cornflakes and a croissant with orange marmalade – an outdoor pool visit to look forward to and tomorrow is only sunday

at work

a day on the phone – almost every single minute of it – and again: the hat guy – he’s the worst haggler i’ve yet encountered, always asking for more than 50% discount and explaining, the other day one of the other girls said a much lower price – so not true – then, no pigtails, but still being treated like a little girl – something’s wrong – on the other hand, the idea of functioning as our boss’ constant assistant (friendly for baby-sitter) and helping him out of his daily chaos, is also so not a good one – seriously, i love my job, but sometimes it is just a little crazy and over the top – well, until next time i’ll be recovered and full of fun and energy again

dream diary, part III

waking up, when i’ve been dreaming of this↓ – that is so not nice – okay, it wasn’t exactly hamlet, it was faust – but david tennant was in it just as well and i was actually talking to him afterwards – he’s so nice! – well, in my dream, he was anyways – so now i just want to go back to sleep and back to my dreams – well, actually, i want to go to london, or possibly stratford, and see hamlet!!!

it always rains in göttingen

andy’s comment on my complaint about the ever-lasting rain in göttingen – and i must add, he’s right – the rain is not all bad

When that I was and a little tiny boy
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
A foolish thing was but a toy,
For the rain it raineth every day.

running shoes – the new nimbus

i still remember my first pair of running shoes – they were red - whenever they were on my feet, i ran everywhere – i literally wore them to pieces or rather to smelliness – only threw them out when the smell was unbearable – now i have cool new running shoes - called nimbus 9 – very comfy and on foot as if they were specially made for my feet – i just have to start running – duh for the rain - anyways, as soon as this is posted, i will run anyways – rain or no rain – nimbus 9 is pleading to be taken out for a run and i am eager like a young kangaroo

sex ed with dr. schiwago

bravo  is a popular german teen magazine. the dr. sommer team  answers questions around love, live and – most important – teenager’s sex problems. we – the twenty-somethings – are well above such nonsense. we make fun of it. but last night my friend had a slip of the tongue – and a very freudian one at that. she said dr. schiwago!  so we figured – really – we wouldn’t say no to omar sharif  explaining concerns of the heart and teaching sex ed.

dancing shoes and graduation dress

o, what a night – first graduation dinner with the parents and my three grandmas at a five star (*****) restaurant, with a deliciously cute waiter – príncipe camarero – then yet another theater premiere – i love opening nights and especially the after-show parties – food, drinks, friends and dancing – dancing the night away in my red dancing shoes, wearing my lovely new favorite dress – bought simply because celebrating one’s own graduation in a fancy restaurant is reason enough

singing sportsmen rock my world

we realized we desperately miss the german national soccer team performing songs, so we came up with a little lineup of our own. thanks to steffi for contributing!

jürgen klinsmann: far away in america

schweini + poldi: ein freund, ein guter freund

philipp lahm: it’s a small world after all

thorsten frings: highway to hell (shaking his hair)

michael ballack: i feel pretty

clemens fritz aka. the nation’s number one single (gala says): all by myself

christoph metzelder: you sexy thing

arne friedrich: candy shop (feat. the nutella boys)

kevin kuranyi: i’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?

special bonus feature: metze und timo: i got you, babe (follow up to steffi’s and lena’s outrageous theory; i’ve got nothing to do with that!!!)

i’m no angel, but i’ve spread my wings a bit…

…mae west once said. well, i’m no angel either, sometimes quite the opposite, but once upon a time i met an angel for some serious nonsense statue posing…

göttingen – summer 2008 – the story continues – this time it is one gretel and the angel, missing gretel number 2, but we don’t give up – we will yet be reunited as a trio – one day

banana bread

a very good recipe – it worked out deliciously on my first try

  • 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour

preheat the oven to 175°C – mix butter into the mashed bananas – mix in the sugar, salt, egg, and vanilla – stir in baking soda and flour – pour mixture into a buttered pan – bake for 1 hour – let cool – eat!
